Flu Vaccine
We have received our first shipment for INJECTABLE FLU SHOTS FOR THE 2021-2022 FLU SEASON. The vaccine, Fluzone, protects against 4 different strains of the flu (type A&B) that are expected to be prevalent this fall and winter season.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children 6 months and older receive the flu vaccine. Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine is approved for use in persons 6 months of age and older. We will provide flu vaccines for parents as our supply allows. In addition, we will submit parent flu vaccines to the appropriate insurance. We have self-pay rates available as well ($35.00).
If you would like to find out more information about influenza illness and the flu vaccine for the 2021-2022 season, please go to https://www.cdc.gov/flu/season/faq-flu-season-2021-2022.htm
Call 512-900-6055 or send us a portal message through the patient portal at https://15935.portal.athenahealth.com/ to make an appointment to receive the flu vaccine. Please complete our Vaccination Consent Form and bring it to your appointment. This will allow us to stay on time for flu shot appointments. If you are unable to provide a completed form, we will provide one for you.
Please remember these appointments are for vaccine administration only to ensure short wait times for other patients. If you have any concerns about your child, our providers would be happy to see him or her at a regularly scheduled appointment. If you are already scheduled for a visit with a provider we would be happy to offer the flu vaccine at that time for your child or any siblings present.
We know how stressful it can be to arrive at our office and walk in while your child becomes more and more anxious as they wait for their injection. We also know it can be difficult to exit your vehicle while gathering multiple young children through the front door, especially if you have a sleeping infant. We hope the option for a “Drive Through” Vaccination appointment lessens your stress and the anxiety level of your child(ren).
If you are interested in a “Drive Through” Vaccination appointment, please indicate that you prefer to stay in your vehicle when you call to make a nurse visit appointment. When you arrive, please call to notify us when you are in the parking lot. One of our nurses will come to your vehicle to obtain your paperwork and then administer the vaccine in a safe environment. We ask that your child has shorts or a dress on to prevent needing to remove them from their car seat and any clothing covering their upper thigh.
