Telemedicine

Wildflower Pediatrics is offering telemedicine services to our patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will allow us to minimize your child’s exposure even more to COVID–19 by avoiding an unnecessary office visit or a possible trip to the Emergency Room.

What is telemedicine?

This a type of communication between your pediatrician, you, and your child through a means with audio and visual capabilities. We will provide you with a website that is secure and HIPPA compliant. You can connect via your mobile device, laptop, or home computer. We ask that you have a strong wifi connection or have the latest version of google chrome or firefox. This will be in a closed office setting to ensure you and your child’s privacy.

Who can use telemedicine?

At this time, we will try to accommodate patients for sick medical needs or parental concerns. We will try to be flexible during this time but ask that parents call our nursing line first to request a telemedicine visit with Dr. Dudley. We want to ensure the most appropriate care for your child. As the pandemic recedes, we will need to re-evaluate the use of telemedicine in the future. We will keep you updated on our ability to continue this service and the types of medical needs we can serve.

Please keep in mind that telemedicine is not a substitute for an office visit with your pediatrician. We will not be able to use telemedicine for well checks. We practice our best medicine when we see your child in person and perform a physical exam. With that in mind, we are trying to avoid unnecessary office visits that may expose your child to coronavirus. If your pediatrician recommends an office visit, we will take all precautions necessary when you arrive with the use of our pager system, protective equipment, and isolated patient rooms.

Will my insurance cover this service?

These visits will be treated like any other visit with us. Copays and deductibles will apply. We recommend calling your insurance plan to verify coverage or any out of pocket costs you may incur.

What about my child’s well appointment during the pandemic?

At this time, we are able to see well checks in our office. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) strongly supports the provision of well care in the midst of the COVID- 19 pandemic. They also recommend modifications to the structure, schedule, and physical space of the clinic which has been implemented. Immunizing the youngest children is also a top priority. We are maintaining a clean environment during the day, along with utilizing a professional cleaning service throughout the week. You may receive a call from us moving your appointment earlier so that we can complete all of the well check visits in the morning, leaving the rest of the day for sick visits only. We will update you if we need to avoid all well checks in our office temporarily.
