Flu Shots have arrived!

Flu Shots have arrived!

It’s that time of year again! Our Flu shots have arrived!

We have received our first shipment for INJECTABLE FLU SHOTS FOR THE 2018-2019 FLU SEASON.  The vaccine, Fluzone, protects against 4 different strains of the flu (type A&B) that are expected to be prevalent this fall and winter season.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children 6 months and older receive the flu vaccine. Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine is approved for use in persons 6 months of age and older.  We will provide flu vaccines for parents as our supply allows.

We will not be offering flu mist, the intranasal vaccine, per CDC’s recommendations. “CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has again decided to recommend against use of live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV; FluMist) for the 2018-2019 flu season because of the vaccine’s reduced efficacy.”

If you would like to find out more information about influenza illness and the flu vaccine for the 2018-2018 season, please go to https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/index.html

Call 512-900-6055 to make an appointment to receive the flu vaccine. Please remember these appointments are for vaccine administration only to ensure short wait times for other patients. If you have any concerns about your child, Dr. Dudley would be happy to see him or her at a regularly scheduled appointment. If you are already scheduled for a visit with Dr. Dudley, we would be happy to offer the flu vaccine at that time for your child or any siblings present.

Carol Mitchell, LVN and Ashley Latham, LVN will be available to provide flu vaccines:

Tuesday 9:00AM – 4:30PM

Wednesday 8:00AM – 11:00AM

Friday 8:00am-4:00pm

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or feedback you can provide during this process. We are truly honored to care for every family at Wildflower Pediatrics!
