This vaccine has received Authorized Emergency Use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for ages 6 months – 5 years of age and has been approved by the CDC. The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine for this age group is administered as a primary series of two doses, one month apart. The vaccine is also authorized to provide a third primary series dose at least one month following the second dose for individuals in this age group who have been determined to be immunocompromised.

We receive vaccine shipments by the Texas Department of State Health services and do not have the ability to choose the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine for this age group at this time. Both vaccines have been approved by the FDA for Emergency Authorization Use. Currently for healthy children, the Moderna requires a 2 shot series, while Pfizer requires a 3 shot series. We will keep you updated on any new recommendations for boosters as they develop.

Call 512-900-6055 or send us a portal message through the patient portal at to make an appointment to receive the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine.

Please remember these appointments are for vaccine administration only to ensure short wait times for other patients. If you are already scheduled for a visit with a provider we would be happy to offer the COVID-19 vaccine at that time for your child or any siblings present.

If you are interested in a “Drive Through” Vaccination appointment (and it is not raining), please indicate that you prefer to stay in your vehicle when you call to make a nurse visit appointment.
