Front desk job duties are listed below and having medical assistant experience (job duties listed below) is not required but a plus along with experience with Athena EMR. Salary will be dependent on credentials and experience ($17-$20/hr)Although we have a defined list of job duties for this position, our staff also anticipates each other’s needs and is always willing to assist within their scope of practice. Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience working as front desk receptionist and/or Medical Assistant in a PEDIATRIC medical out-patient clinic.

Front Desk Responsibilities and Duties

Welcome patients with a warm friendly impression

Check patients in and out

Verify Insurance and demographics

Skilled with use of Athena EMR

Calculate treatment/service costs, collect copays

Answer phones and scheduling appointments within EMR software

Keep waiting rooms organized and clean

Scan new patient charts and consult notes into EMR software

Manage office workflow/schedule

Computer skills include Microsoft word and Excel

Medical Assistant Job duties:

Receive training and implement EMR (Athena) for patient management from check in to completion of care

Rooming patients, maintaining flow of patient check-in, and following established protocols, policies and procedures

Interview/triage patients, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and record information on patients’ charts within EMR. This includes well visits, sick visits, nurse visits for vaccines, or behavioral consults.

Collect and perform basic labs including urine analysis, flu tests, respiratory syncytial virus tests, rapid strep tests, stool guaiac tests, culture collections for lab pick up, newborn screens (via heel stick) and complete blood cell counts (via finger stick)

Patient vaccine administration (newborns – age 19 years old) including preparing vaccines, documenting date and lot numbers in the chart, tracking supply and ordering vaccines from multiple vendors

Tracking lab and medical supplies and ordering from multiple vendors

Scanning incoming patient records and consult notes into patient charts in EMR system

Faxing patient medical information to specialists

Prepare and clean rooms for examination of patients

Informing patients and families of normal lab or radiology results

Assisting with answering phones, taking messages, returning patient phone calls

Assist with prescription refills as well as medication, specialty clinic, and procedure referral pre-authorizations.

Hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, with opportunities to advance salary
